Rooted Heart is proud to be home to Lisa Brent’s Hypnotherapy practice, Calling Harmony. Hypnotherapy is becoming popular as an effective way to manage stress, anxiety, childhood patterning, addiction, fertility, etc.
While hypnotherapy can potentially benefit many different people, I, like many, have had some misunderstandings about it in the past. I had a chance to sit down with Lisa to set the record straight.
I learned a whole lot about what hypnotherapy is and can do to help people, and almost more importantly, what it is NOT. Read on to see what she had to say…
“I am so excited to be a part of the Rooted Heart community. This space has such great energy; it’s an awesome place to practice hypnotherapy.
Most people hear about hypnosis and think of some magician-like performer who can make people cluck like a chicken on stage. Their immediate reaction is, “No way! That is not for me! I would not want to embarrass myself, lose control, etc.” I can totally relate to this response, and it’s a reaction I hear a lot. So, I am happy to have the opportunity to share about what I do as a hypnotherapist, who it benefits, and to dispel a few myths.”
What is hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy is rapid change therapy. It is solutions based and goal focused. Hypnosis can be effective for managing stress, anxiety, weight loss, infertility and so much more. Problems are solved efficiently and with positive and healthy outcomes. Hypnosis is a mild state of relaxation. The fact is, we are in an out of hypnosis every day when we are daydreaming, driving, exercising, watching TV, etc. Have you ever driven somewhere and wondered how you got there? That’s a typical hypnotic trance that people experience all the time.
How does hypnosis work?
Think of your mind and your thought patterns as falling into 2 categories: your conscious and your subconscious. Our conscious mind is intelligent, but it only has the capacity to focus on about 10 things at once. Our subconscious is where our habits reside. It’s like a playful child that remembers everything that’s happened to us in our lifetimes. It wants to protect us, but sometimes it can get in the way of our living life to its fullest.
During a hypnosis session, we bypass the conscious mind and speak directly to the subconscious. Harnessing the subconscious creates effective new patterns which support healthy, positive thoughts, feelings and behaviors empowering us to reach our greatest potential. We can literally develop new neural pathways in our brains through hypnosis. Because we address the subconscious during hypnosis, the process works a lot faster than talk therapy. I can honestly say that 100% of patients leave a session feeling better than when they walked in.
Here is the truth about hypnotherapy:
- Anyone can be hypnotized if they are willing.
- Hypnosis is not mind-control.
- People in hypnosis will not do anything against their will.
- You are not asleep during a hypnotherapy session.
- You cannot get stuck in a trance.
- Hypnosis is safe and effective.
- Positive changes from hypnosis can last a lifetime!
